Jeroen Lok [Amsterdam, 1973] studied communication science at the University of Amsterdam. He graduated in 1999 with a thesis on The Truman Show, Peter Weirs film about life as a permanent television show.

In 1995 he went to London to study film at the London Guildhall University. As part of this course he was director of photography for the short videofilm The Green Room, directed by Naluwembe Binaisa.

During his studies he began writing - and occasionally making portraits - for the Dutch filmmonthly The Filmkrant.

In 2001 he entered the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam to study photography for a brief period.

After leaving the academy in 2003 he and Melinde Gerber established the filmproduction company GRISFILM. They focus on the production of European films.

He currently works in both fields of film and photography.

A leitmotif in his works is the research of space in its widest sense.
